Do you know of an SLP who deserves special recognition for their contribution to the profession? Is there an organization or person that you admire for their contribution to public understanding of individuals with speech, language or hearing disabilities? Do you know of an individual with a communication disorder who has inspired others? Are you aware of a Maine resident pursuing a graduate degree in communication disorders? If so - please contact the Executive Council TODAY with your nominations for awards or applications for scholarships. Here is a summary of the Awards of the Association: Mary K. Brandt / Jon Petit Scholarship - annual monetary award for a Maine resident that is studying communication disorders at the graduate level (application and transcript required) Roberta Hansen Individual with Communication Impairment Achievement Award - a stipend and plaque presented at our Annual Conference to an individual (Maine resident) who has demonstrated outstanding effort to improve their communication ability and/or quality of life DiCarlo and Kleffner Awards - the American Speech Language Hearing Foundation accepts nominations according to procedures by the ASLHF and administered by the Executive Council Distinguished Public Service Recognition - the Executive Council will review nominations for an individual or organization for their contribution to public understanding of individuals with speech, language or hearing disabilities and will award a plaque to that person Outstanding Contribution Recognition - the Executive Council will review nominations for a person or organization for their contribution to the development of public policy that positively influences persons with speech, language or hearing disabilities and will award a plaque to that person or organization The Facing Maine Scholarship - the annual Facing Maine Scholarship Program was established to recognize the resilience, strength, and accomplishments of a Maine high school Senior who has a cleft or craniofacial condition. In celebration of what they have overcome, including hard work in school and dedication to the community, and are offering a $250 award. Do you know someone who is eligible? Encourage them to apply!
